I'm having issues with viewing groupings by folder v3.0.1

Pseudocomicnerd 12 months ago updated by Tom 11 months ago 7

I know it's in the beta, and I am overjoyed this project is still being worked on as it been my go to for viewing my comic library for several years. So, this is more a question about if anyone has had the same issue and what they did to resolve it.

I've scanned a library of 100k+ books magazines and comics. I can view grouping if they're flat, but not by folder.

Some of the folders have multiple levels of sub folders, some have the books on the top level. Neither will show up as folders but all the media is showing up when I switch over to flat.

I don't know what might be causing this behaviour, but if you send me your Ubooquity database I'll take a look.

This is the ubooquity-6.mv.db file. Just be sure to stop Ubooquity before copying it.
You can upload it to any file sharing service (e.g. Wormhole) and send me the link at: tom 'at' vaemendis.net

Note that I will be able to see the names of all your files (but not access the files themselves).

The only thing I have noticed around that is on the settings popup to select flat or folder view the apply button does not appear clickable but actual is responding and saving the settings. But I haven't seen your issue with my installation and like you have multiple sub folders in several places, for books, comics and magazines, about 150k collection.

Well, I'm not sure exactly what of part of the installation caused it, but I was trying to install the new version on top of my old one to hopefully keep the database. A lot of it showed up as files in the library, and I could see the folders in admin, but I couldn't see anything in flat view in the library.

I ended up uninstalling version 8 of java, so only 17 was installed. Then I installed a copy of 3.0.1 in it's own folder and ran a quick test on some small media sets with the new book/comic/magazine identifiers. It all worked correctly that time.

Sooo... I'm going to rescan the library because from what I've seen, I really like this new version and it's worth letting it scan for a while.

Now to find out if Kuboo still plays nice with it.

I have the exact same problem, doesn't matter if its a fresh install or upgrade. its' unusable because folder view simply doesn't work. I also remove Java 8 to inly have Java 17 and no changes. My test shows that its an issue with folder of folders.

I have have 2 libraries, Comics and Ebooks, both folder only have subfolders in it, no actual books in the root and I think that's where the issue is. In my comic folder I have folder for categories, Action, European, Scifi, Fantasy, Horror, Superheroes, etc. In the Action folder I have folder of all the comic titles and a folder jpg as a custom icon. It's the folder structure that's causing issues, although it works like a charm on the previous version. If I put in my library a sub folder with book in it, it works fine.

Hope it helps correcting the issue!

I tried reproducing the issue by recreating the structure you described, but I don't have the probblem.

Same offer as for Pseudocomicnerd in the messages above: would you be able to send me the database file of a Ubooquity instance that have this issue ?

Ok I figured it out, it's a user account issue. I have 5 users and my server is protected because its available to the open internet for me when I travel and a couple family members. When you disable "Protect shared content with user accounts" it starts working properly. Obviously I can't trust anyone not to share the link so I'll stick with the old version with account protection until its fixed lol

Thanks for the lead, it'll help the investigation !
