Asustor and access from anywhere

Xuafapec 3 weeks ago updated by Gary 3 weeks ago 3

Hello there,

First of all, sorry for my bad skills in english.

I've installed Ubooquity from Appcentral (kind of Appstore for Asustor NAS).

Everything is running perfectly, except some thumbnails but it's ok.

I only can access to Ubooquity from my local network, how can I manage to get a direct access to my comics library ?

I can connect to my NAS from anywhere, (through EZconnect Asustor), but then i cannot access to Ubooquity from the NAS home page.

Thanks for your help and merry Christmas.

There are two ways to do it.

The first is to use the Internet IP address your NAS is connected to as well as the port # Ubooquity uses.

ie: http://184.16.18.168:2202

or you can go to settings => manual connect in your ASUSTOR NAS and setup a DDNS so you can access it thusly:

http://cloudid.myasustor.com:2202

Hope that helps.

Gary, nice try, but you forgot the needed port forwarding in Xuafapec 's router/firewall. The AUSTOR-App works with her Server as "Service-in-the-Middle" and uses their own Server as Gate to access the NAS.

Xuafapec : you still need to set the correct port forwarding for Ubooquity in your router/Firewall, otherwise you can't connect to the Ubooquity Landing Page.

Just search for an How-To or look in the manual from your router to set up port forwarding.

Basically its the local IP-adress from your NAS at home and the ports described from Gary above, and the needed Type is TCP (if TCP isnt work, use UDP).

hope that helps, too

Anton is correct.  I did miss that.  It's been a while since I did a full install.

The good news is that it's very easy.

Under ADM Defender => Firewall => Profile Management

Edit your firewall

Click add

Network Interface = Applications
Action = Allow

Sources = All or IP Address

Ports = select from built in services (Ubooquity should show as an app here)

Applies to Docker = No

For router verification:

Settings => Manual Connect => EZ Router

Make sure you see app#Ubooquity listed once it generates your port forwarding

Good luck and if you need any more help, let me know.
