Raw files..What are they?

Trying to map paths for the linux server docker image for Ubooquity, I came across 'Raw Files'. What is this folder supposed to be for?

'Raw files' allows you to expose a simple listing of clickable files link to be able to download them.

No metadata, no thumbnails, nothing, just links.
