Due to overwelming public demand, I have updated my NorthernLights theme for Ubooquity to v2.0. v1.0 worked well enough, but I saw I had left a couple of rough edges here and there, so welcome to 2026!

What’s changed:

  • Works properly on phones and small screens (I finally worked out I had forgotten the cover-width settings).
  • Dark and light modes, remembered per browser (Did I steal the idea from Renegade Reader? yes.)
  • A “Go to” menu to jump between categories, plus Latest and Random
  • Hover quick actions on covers (read, download, details, mark as finished)
  • Frosted-glass login page, popups and book details, with a new logo and icons
  • Several small bug-fixes, including a Home link that broke behind a proxy and cover sizes that were never set properly

Are there any chance of letting us skin the reader buttons inside the epub reader as well? I found a way to do it using a caddy setup in my docker, but it doesn't port really nicely.

Ubooquity 3 has this as a feature. You can separate into Comics, Magazines, Documents and Others, as well as an option for Raw Files, ie. sharing entire folders with mixed content.
