Port Forwarding

PatternRec 8 years ago updated by Tom 8 years ago 1

If I'm reading the instructions right, in order to have access to the public network I *need* to be able to do port forwarding in the router. If I only have access to Windows Firewall but not the router because I'm renting a room for the next two months I'll only have local access.

Is my understanding of this correct?

unreadable cbr

Richard Leonard 8 years ago updated by Tom 8 years ago 2

i have found some CBR files that ubooquity wont read....

Here is what I've found about them..

They appear to be 'RAR' 4 files using 'Solid' (??) Encoding/compressing.

The jUnrar 'kit' has issues unpacking these files...

(At least in 2011 they did.... https://github.com/edmund-wagner/junrar/issues/4

The only fix I've found is to unpack/repack files...

Has anyone else run across this?

XML UnmarshalException: Content is not allowed in prolog

Howard Durdle 8 years ago updated 8 years ago 5

On launching Ubooquity with a pre-existing preferences.xml file, xml error occurs:

javax.xml.bind.UnmarshalException

- with linked exception:
[org.xml.sax.SAXParseException; systemId: file:/D:/#DLApps/ubooquity/preferences.xml; lineNumber: 1; columnNumber: 1; Content is not allowed in prolog.]

This occurs even if no preferences have been changed.

It can be reproduced (reliably) by:

  • On Windows Server 2012 R2 x64 + Java 8 Update 91 (32 bit):
  • Launch Ubooquity version 1.10.1
  • Ubooquity creates the preferences.xml
  • Stop and Exit Ubooquity
  • Launch Ubooquity again.
  • On launch as Ubooquity loads the preferences.xml it just created, receive the error as above.

I can configure Ubooquity to scan and serve my files - and it works beautifully - but as soon as Ubooquity restarts for any reason, the above error is generated.

The error can be related to the BOM in a UTF-8 file, but not sure what I can do to influence that. Posting in Bugs, but willing to learn that this is an environmental issue that can be sorted in my config.

Thanks!

Upload via Ubooquity web interface?

Drew 8 years ago updated by Tom 8 years ago 1

Is it possible or available via an extension to allow myself or another user to upload via the web interface? I could setup a samba share to my comic folder but if this is hidden somewhere it would save me some extra config and secondary access setup.

ubooquity and Sony dtp-s1

Robert Vorlicsek 8 years ago updated 8 years ago 4

Hi, I just got my Sony 13.3" e-reader and it has troubles with ubooquity web interface.

I am trying to read comics, but everything works fine until the moment i open the actual comic files. The screen resolution is 1600x1200px, so the original size is in the most of the cases too big (as you can imagine, I can see only a peace of the page). The interesting part is when I press "fit width", it only fits width and, as you probably guessed, with the "height" option only the latter is fitted. Is it possible to implement a third option, so that the image is fitted proportionately?

Extract First Page

John Repetti 9 years ago updated 8 years ago 7

When Ubooquity imports a new issue, it would be great for there to be an extract page option where the first image/page of an issue would be extracted into the comic folder.

If this option were available, comic readers such as Challenger Viewer could be set to look for cover files instead of having to download the entire comic file to extract the art itself.

This would be a very efficient method for importing a Ubooquity/OPDS database, especially for large databases.

Suggestion about scanning content/auto-removing comics/path not found

Warborg 9 years ago updated by Tom 9 years ago 1

Ok, so for whatever reason earlier Ubooquity could not find the path where my comics were stored (possibly due to some changes and having to re-detect the hard drive when the server started up and did not find the drive immediately) and performed it's startup scan thereby just automatically removing 58,000 entries which I now have to re-scan in. As a possible enhancement, if it can't find the path perhaps it should abort/pause the scan instead of just automatically acting, or prompt for what to do or something. Could be problematic if you are using some sort of NAS and running Ubooquity locally and you lose the drive mapping so it just decides to clear your library, for instance.

what determines how many objects are on main top level screen?

Richard Leonard 9 years ago updated by Tom 9 years ago 1

On the Administrative screen I have "20" comics per page selected (and cover width:202-height:314).

However on the top "level" screen - there are 11 items on screen 1, (5 on top row, 5 on second row and 1 on third row) - screen 2 has 2 items... - - - as I was setting up the top level folders - as soon as I had more than 5 items -- a "Page 2" was created and it always had at least 1 item on it... ---

??? is this a bug? - -- I've tried using Default Theme, Modern, Dark, Comixology - - same with all .... I've looked at the CSS and can't see anything "glaring" that might cause it due to spacing or size of "container" or "cell" or "thumb" or any of "the usual suspects".....

zenCBR

Richard Leonard 9 years ago updated by eduo 7 years ago 5

Not sure if this is inline w/ the purpose/direction of this forum, and if Admin/Sysop yanks it - NP....

I was googling/searching/hunt'n'pecking a way to "clean up" my comics files, and almost universally "ZenCBR" is mentioned....

my only problem with that is that it is a "windows" only app.

(my server farm or weed patch - - is all itty bitty ARM boxen... Pogo Plugs,Seagate GoFlex, Raspberry Pis, and so on..I think there is one intel box w/ Ubuntu - everyone else is Debian Jessie, or Embedded Linux (MontaVista?)

workstations in the house are all Macs, Android phones/tablets, iPhones/iPad, ChromeOS, and whatever my son is running on "his" beastie this week...

......

The author has posted the Source, and declared it FOSS! (this is a good thing)

Unfortunately, the author, Shannon Larrat, passed away 16 March 2013... (almost never a good thing).... (if you don't have a copy, you may want to get one soon if you are interested..)

http://www.zentastic.com/blog/2012/01/30/zencbr-comic-book-archive-maintenance-utility/

(who knows how long it will remain online...)

So, I am thinking about rewriting the app. At this point maybe as a set of Bash scripts, or Java like Ubooquity, my son suggested Go, or python- (which would run on more than Linux boxen).

For those who have used it, what features/functions should it have?

my goals so far -

make it modular,

(each menu option can be simply "dropped" in or "pulled" out w/out major headaches)

attempt OS agnosticism...

(write once, run anywhere - - <snerk> )

avoid GUI, keep it text - (simpler, potentially faster),

SPEED - - - make each function go as fast as possible... or faster

SIZE - - KEEP IT SMALL (both code and memory footprint)

Thoughts?

(is this a waste of time, is there another program that does what ZenCBR does ?)
